2018 – a year full of exciting prospects!

Happy New Year!  2018 promises to be an exciting year with new wool, new designs and new workshop and wool show dates.  I feel like I am a bit late to exclaim Happy New Year, but somehow mid way through January, it still seems appropriate.  People tend to make new year’s resolutions on the 1st January and stick with the good intentions for at least one month!  For me, I have never really made new year’s resolutions as such, but I do try to look back over the last year and reflect on what went well and what lessons can be learnt (lots of both in 2017!).  I also try to plan ahead, thinking about dates for workshops and wool shows, restocking kits and planning in lots of time for designing!  It has already been a busy couple of weeks!

On my events page, you will see I am offering learn to crochet workshops at two gorgeous venues in Hitchin towards the end of January and February.  I am so excited to be teaching at Molly’s Tea Room and The Studio at No. 30.  I will start with the basics, such as crocheting granny squares, teaching how to increase and decrease to make some Valentines hearts and flowers!  These will ultimately be beginner classes, but are also suitable for those that want to brush up on their crochet skills or learn some new stitches!

This week I am waiting to hear from the Halifax Spinning Mill to say that my new wool has been spun, half of which will make its way to the dyers, the other half will be sent to me undyed and this natural wool will be available for sale in 100g skeins or 25g wound balls very soon.  I can’t wait to see how it turns out, as this wool has 20% of alpaca added to the fleece of my Cousin’s sheep farmed in Pembrokeshire.

My head is buzzing with so many new designs and I hope to be launching a few more kits this year.  I will also be relaunching the No-Sew Baby Cardigan kit with fair trade cotton instead of wool, the pattern in the kit will include options for a couple of different sizes.

So watch this space for more news in the coming months and I hope 2018 will be a good one for you too!
